30th Anniversary Gala:
A Legacy of Hope
More than 500 friends of Say Yes to Education came together on March 9, 2017, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City to celebrate the organization’s 30th anniversary. Neil Goldberg, President and CEO of Raymour & Flanigan and a member of the Say Yes board, received the Say Yes Corporate Community Partner Award. And George Weiss, the Founder and Chairman of Say Yes, and the CEO and Chairman of Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers, LLC, received the inaugural Legacy Award.
But the night belonged to the students, alumni and parents who took to the stage to tell the Say Yes story. That story begins in 1987 with a commitment from Mr. Weiss to put a group of Philadelphia sixth graders through college if they graduated high school. And that story continues today, as Say Yes partners with entire communities around the goal of every public school student graduating high school – and doing so with the preparation and wherewithal to earn a college degree or other postsecondary credential.
Say Yes wishes to thank the attendees and other supporters of its gala for contributing more than $11 million – the kickoff of an ambitious capital campaign to raise $30 million. Funds raised throughout our 30th year will position Say Yes to provide hundreds of thousands more students with the opportunity to maximize their gifts and talents – all in the spirit of Say Yes’ initial promise.
